Thailand Film Diary

I’ve been to Thailand and Phuket twice now and I can surely say that the breathtaking element of taking in all its beauty does not fade away. This time around, I brought my 35mm film camera, which I bought only a few weeks prior, along for the thrilling adventure. Before the trip, I had been practicing and practicing so that I could be a pro when this journey came along. But evidently I am no pro, perhaps just a mere amateur. Regardless, I found the experience of taking film photos quite fun and delightful and I am excited to keep learning.

Now that I’ve given you a little disclaimer about my mediocre photography skills, I’d like to show you some of my unedited and raw photos from my trip. Three of my closest friends came along this time to experience the ooohs and ahhhs of the breathtakingly beautiful city of Phuket. Unfortunately, since we are in school, we could only stay for a long weekend, three days. However, we took full advantage and got as much sun and relaxation as we could.

On our first day, we went to Green Elephant Sanctuary to feed, bathe, and play with the adorable elephants. This was my second time at the sanctuary and I’ve only come to appreciate the charming creatures even more. When I went this past October, one of the elephants was pregnant and this time around she had already given birth to a baby boy named “Lucky.” He was so cute, I could have just died right there and have been content with my life. If you haven’t been to an elephant sanctuary, it’s a “must-see” and I suggest booking your plane ticket right now. I mean it. Unfortunately, I did not bring my film camera on this day because I didn’t want to loose it or get it wet amidst all the fun. But like I said, the elephant sanctuary is definitely a life-changing event and something everyone should experience at least once in their lives.

The next two days, we spent most our time sunbathing on the beach or at the pool – the perfect vacation for after midterms (or during since I had a midterm exam the Monday we returned). We sat in the sun for hours upon hours and even had a cocktail or twenty. I’ve gotten so tan, my foundation shade has changed from skim milk to chocolate milk. Another thing we did was eat! I ate so much Pad Thai in the span of those three days that I’ve probably gained five pounds of pure noodle. These photos are memories of all that stuffing ourselves with pure joy and frying in the hot hot sun.
